The world's desktop
Microsoft's OS on 70%+ of desktops: now a serious dev environment with WSL and AI built in.
This hub collects blocks that target Windows: native development, cross-platform frameworks that ship well on it, and the tooling for distributing software to the platform that still runs most of the world's desktops.
Why it matters to an indie builder: outside the tech bubble, Windows is the default, and products for offices, industry, gaming and education live or die by their Windows story. Cross-platform stacks, Electron, Tauri, Flutter, Qt, have made shipping to Windows viable without maintaining a parallel codebase, and package managers now make CLI distribution tolerable.
A realistic use: a desktop client built on Tauri or Electron with auto-update infrastructure, code-signed installers, and a CI pipeline that produces the Windows build alongside macOS and Linux from the same commit.
The trade-off is the platform's rough edges for developers: code signing certificates, WebView version drift, and an app-store culture that matters less than on mobile. Compare with the macOS and Linux hubs here when your audience skews elsewhere.
Who it's for
Businesses and gamers who want the desktop platform with the widest software compatibility.
