The Intuitive Vue Framework

A full-stack framework for building performant and production-ready Vue.js applications with server-side rendering, routing, and auto-imports.

Nuxt is Vue's meta-framework: file-based routing, server-side rendering and static generation, automatic code splitting, data fetching conventions, and Nitro, the server engine that deploys the same app to Node, serverless or the edge. It is the path from a Vue app to a full product.

Why founders use it: it answers the questions a Vue SPA eventually asks, routing, SEO, loading states, API layer, with conventions instead of assembly. Hybrid rendering lets each route choose its strategy, static for marketing, SSR for product pages, ISR-style caching for listings, and the server routes give backend-for-frontend capabilities without a separate API project. Modules handle auth, CMS integrations and sitemaps as configuration.

A realistic setup: marketing pages prerendered, app routes server-rendered with session auth, server routes proxying the API, and deploys to Vercel, Netlify or a Node host with zero ceremony. The dev experience matches Vite, because it is Vite underneath.

Trade-offs: the abstraction is deep enough that debugging occasionally descends into framework internals, and hiring skews React in some markets. Compare with Next.js for the React equivalent and Astro for content-first sites with Vue islands.

Who it's for

Vue developers who want the full-stack, convention-over-configuration counterpart to Next.js.
