Unix for the rest of us

Apple's desktop OS on M-series hardware: the developer-favorite environment.

This hub collects blocks that run on or target macOS: native development, cross-platform frameworks that ship Apple-quality builds, and the tooling that makes a Mac a serious workstation.

Why it matters to an indie builder: the Mac is the default machine of the software industry, and for products sold to developers, designers and creators, macOS is often the primary platform, sometimes the only one. Apple silicon also made the Mac a respectable build machine and server for local development, with Docker and VMs running comfortably.

A realistic use: a desktop tool built with a cross-platform framework, or an internal CLI distributed via Homebrew, or a menu-bar utility shipped as a notarized app. Each has Apple-specific steps, signing, notarization, sandboxing, that this hub's tools help with.

The trade-off of macOS-first development is the walled garden: distribution outside the App Store wants certificates and notarization, and the platform's conventions change with each OS release. Compare with the Windows and Linux hubs here when your audience is broader.
