Bun is an all-in-one JavaScript runtime built with Zig's speed and a focus on developer experience. It bundles a package manager, test runner and bundler into a single binary, installs dependencies orders of magnitude faster than npm, and runs TypeScript natively. For small teams it removes most of the JavaScript toolchain: one tool, one config format, drop-in Node compatibility. Anthropic acquired Bun in December 2025 (its first acquisition) to power Claude Code's tooling.
