The Modern Web Developer's Platform
A platform for building mobile and desktop web applications. Created by Google, Angular provides a full development framework with TypeScript at its core.
Angular is Google's full application framework: TypeScript-first, dependency injection, a component model with templates, RxJS observables for async flows, a CLI that generates and tests, and a release cadence that modernizes aggressively. It is the structured choice of large frontends and enterprise teams.
Why founders use it: Angular ships opinions for the whole application, routing, forms with validation, HTTP clients, testing utilities, i18n, so a team scales without each developer choosing a philosophy. The template syntax and DI make large codebases predictable, and two-way patterns plus strict TypeScript catch breakage early. Banks, healthcare and platform companies hire for it, which matters when your customer is one.
A realistic setup: the CLI for scaffolding and builds, standalone components with signals for reactive state, Angular Material or a headless library for UI, and the framework's testing harnesses wired into CI from day one.
Trade-offs: the learning curve is the steepest of the mainstream frameworks, boilerplate is real compared with Svelte or Vue, and it is an application framework, not a fit for light content sites. Compare with React for ecosystem freedom and Vue for gentler ergonomics.
Who it's for
Enterprise teams and large codebases that need an opinionated, fully-featured frontend with TypeScript enforced.
